SUMMER BY THE RIVER: UNEARTHED - Asian Tones x Summer by the River

Catch some of the freshest talent from the Asian community at this special collaboration with Summer By The River. We will be bringing you three emerging artists from the indie/pop and RnB world to enjoy, on what will be a fabulous summer’s evening.

Asian Tones champion and celebrate Asian heritage within the music industry, with a focus on pushing forward visibility for the community in the wider UK live music scene.

NIKI KINI

At 23 years old, Niki Kini is no stranger to the music scene. The singer-songwriting Pop Princess started out on YouTube at the age of 13, and has since worked alongside the likes of RAYE and Rina Sawayama.

Niki has gained recognition for her playful lyrics that showcase her signature wit and humour. Her funk-
tinged alt-pop has earned her a coveted spot at Reading and Leeds Festival this summer. Other accolades include being Bobby Friction's (BBC Asian Network) youngest ever ‘Artist of the Week’ (2017) and being crowned Future Hits Radio’s ’Track of The Year 2024’. 100% independent, Niki brings the same fierce integrity to her artistry as she does to every aspect of her career.

KAYLA GRACE

Born in Watford, British-Indian Kayla Grace started posting original music on TikTok in 2020. She released her debut 'Bird in a Cage' in 2020 and has been honing her craft since with Gez O'Connell (Dua Lipa), Nick Atkinson & Edd Holloway (Lewis Capaldi) and Hugo Silvani (Pale Waves). Her single 'fifteen again' won over fans of The 1975 after Matty Healy himself shared her on his socials. Since then, she has supported Baby Queen, Sody & Only The Poets, gained radio support from Jack Saunders & Mollie King, Spotify and Apple music (Cover of Our Generation, New Music Friday, Peach & New Pop). She is now in the process of finishing her next EP.

AKHIL SAHNI

Akhil Sahni is a 22-year-old soul-pop singer/songwriter known for his rich, piano-driven sound and emotive storytelling. Born in New Delhi and now based in London, he blends classical piano roots with modern songwriting to craft music that’s heartfelt and sonically refined. After studying Finance, he shifted focus to music, aiming to revive expressive, piano-based artistry in today’s digital landscape.
His interest spans beyond his own songs into film scoring, photography, and creative direction, reflecting a multidimensional creative vision. Influenced by John Mayer, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Hans Zimmer, Akhil’s sound aims to balance intimacy and cinematic scale.
Having released multiple singles, collaborated with leading Indian artists, and been named “One to Watch” by Eastern Eye, he’s fast emerging as a fresh voice in global, genre-blurring pop.
