SUMMER BY THE RIVER: PLEASURE INC + AQUALINE + BEACHTOWN

PLEASUREINC

Founded in 2021 by Norwich-based brothers Jonny Silver (guitar/vox) and Kenny Pleasures (drums/vox), PleasureInc. take the blueprint of the ‘indie rock band’ and subvert expectations. Armed with the Babyface Killa (keys/percussion) and Burger (bass), their ‘genre fluid’ approach incorporates hip hop, indie, dance, fashion, 90s wrestling and comedy in their music and visuals, prioritising vibes, crease and character over genre norms.

Boasting sold out shows in Norwich, London and Brighton in their first few months of existence, the band’s live show has led them to appearances at The Great Escape and Down the Rabbit Hole, as well as a full UK/EU tour supporting Friday Pilots Club in 2024.

The release of their debut EP ‘Plastic People’ in April 2024 garnered the attention of BBC Radio 1 and 6Music, Clash, Hard of Hearing, Wonderland and Earmilk, and three appearances at Left of the Dial paves the way for another exciting year for the band.

AQUALINE

Aqualine is a 5-piece, up-and-coming band from Guildford. Taking broad inspiration from post-punk, hip-hop, Grunge, shoegaze and experimental ambience they fuse a quirky sound with their Indie-rock roots. Their debut single made a bold entrance onto Steve Lamaq's ‘BBC 6 New Music Fix Show’. They then showcased their live chemistry on Melitta Dennet’s BBC Introducing Live Lounge after releasing their debut EP ‘Lurker’. The EP tour featured a sell out show at the Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch, supporting Alfie Templeman at The 1865 and playing two dates in France. A second EP is now on the horizon, along with a return to Paris for the Block Party Festival in May.

BEACHTOWN

Shoegazing for the 21st century, London duo beachtown’s upwards trajectory is defined by a sound created on their own terms, influenced by many but dictated by none. Menorca born Zaine Masoliver and Londoner Fred Cowan weave together an eclectic tapestry of influences taking inspiration from introverted, enigmatic flag-bearers such as King Krule and Los Angeles based experimental artist Dijon.

beachtown was formed in 2019, during a chance meeting in the queue for a gig in Kingston, South London when the search for a lost ticket turned into a conversation. Fast forward to 2025 and beachtown are swiftly becoming one of the most exciting up-and-coming alternative acts in London, having won admiration from tastemakers across Spotify and Apple as well as from BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders), BBC Introducing London and Kent (Jess Iszatt, Abbie McCarthy), BBC Radio 6 (Tom Robinson). Their forthcoming EP, 'VIM', will be released Autumn 2025.
